Horse Transportation Considered Essential

Filed under: Health & Training |

PMG Release

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the entire United States, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to recognize agriculture as a critical industry, and the movement of live animals is essential and therefore permitted.

Following federal guidelines, The National Horse Carriers Association would like to reiterate to their customers that their members remain operational and are working at full capacity while taking every safety precaution in order to keep horses moving to their destinations safely and efficiently.

NCHA members value their customers and are available around the clock to answer any questions horse owners may have about the transportation of their animals.

The NHCA would like to thank all our drivers for their dedication and service during this difficult time.

To help the NHCA members limit their exposure, customers can put the following safety measures into practice:

  • Wipe down all equipment that will be transported with horses with antibacterial wipes.
  • Once disinfected, wear gloves when handling equipment that will be loaded into trailers.
  • If you or anyone else who may be in contact with you or your horse(s), and/or equipment feels sick please let drivers know beforehand so they can take proper precautions.
