PA Loves Texas
By: Rita McMullen
One of the Pennsylvania Quarter Horse Association’s local exhibitors, Justin Gray, owns his own Truck/Tractor business and lives in Spring Mills, PA, close to the PQHA Showgrounds in Centre Hall. Justin and his wife, Amanda, and their three children are all exhibitors at the PQHA shows.
Following the devastating damage from Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Justin shared a Facebook post on Tuesday of last week describing how he and a friend were willing to supply trucks to take supplies to the damaged areas of Texas. The post began to be shared within our local horse show community and so many PQHA members responded with promises of supplies and money for the trip. Justin decided to load his truck right at the Centre County Grange Fairgrounds, home of the PQHA Nittany Classic Show and Futurity that took place over the weekend.
Our local board member, Ashley Leister, and her family volunteered to coordinate the donations at the show grounds to prepare the supplies for shipment. On September 2nd, Justin and other PQHA volunteers were able to load over five skids of supplies onto Justin’s trucks for the families in Texas. Together, with other donations from local families, eight truckloads of supplies headed to Texas on Monday.
PQHA would like to thank all of their members for the many donations that were provided and to all the volunteers for making this possible. We send our heartfelt wishes for recovery to the families in Texas.
