Ranch Riding exhibitors who show at both the Congress and AQHA World Shows this year are vying for an extra incentive thanks to the support and generosity of Steve and Kathy Headley. The incentive is multi-faceted; a competitor must show at both shows – two of the Headley family’s favorite shows to attend – to be in the running for winnings additional to those already offered at those shows.
The Headley family presented the Open Ranch Rail Stakes and the Non-Pro Ranch Rail Stakes at the 2020 AQHA World Show with a $25,000 purse. The same classes were slated to debut at the Congress as well until the COVID-19 pandemic caused the show to cancel. So, this year, the Headley family is excited to see the Open Ranch Rail Stakes and Non-Pro Ranch Rail Stakes take place at the 2021 Congress with a $15,000 purse up for grabs. The family is offering an additional $10,000 to be split among the top three exhibitors that show in the Open Ranch Rail Stakes classes at both shows.
“We’d heard the stakes at the World Show was the largest attended class, so we’re excited to see and be part of something growing like this in an event where everyone truly appears to be having a good time and enjoying their horses,” Kathy says.
The Headley family is most renowned as breeders and exhibitors of world class halter horses. They are the owners of top Halter stallions including Rumerz, Heartz On Fire, and Best Kept Secrete, along with Heza Secret Agent who they lost in 2018. They also own and have bred many World Champion horses in both Halter and Performance.
