Hayley Riddle and No Doubt I’m Somethin Win 2017 AQHA Youth World Western Pleasure

When we talked to Hayley Riddle just a few days ago, when she and her horse, No Doubt I’m Somethin, were named the L2 Champions in Western Pleasure, she said something she wanted to achieve before her youth career was over is to win a globe. However, she certainly didn’t anticipate that dream would come true this evening in one of the most competitive classes of the horse show. In a word, this win feels “amazing!”

“This was such a good group of horses, and I think anyone could have won it.” What put “Michael Jackson” over the top? “I think he’s so pretty in the pen, and he was very honest today. That was probably the best ride I’ve ever had on him.”

“This year, especially, it seemed like anyone who had a good go could have a shot at it. If you don’t think you can do it, trust me you can! Because, I didn’t think I could do it. It gives a lot of hope for me especially, because I’m not a confident person. I’m the least confident person in the world.”

Something else that made this win extra special is that in an event where the top spot is traditionally reserved for more specialized horses, Hayley was able to win with a true all-around mount. During the show, they competed in Performance Halter, Horsemanship, Trail, and Hunter Under Saddle. “We had so many events, so we tried to focus on one event at a time. We did scratch Equitation yesterday, because I felt like I had a shot at this class. We focused on Western Pleasure, and my dad did a lot of work to make sure he was ready.”

“Hannah Olaussen was standing next to me and her horse does the all-around too. She turned to me and said, ‘How about those all-around horses!’ I was so happy that happened. That was probably the coolest thing. We just came out of placing fourth in Trail and then went into the Pleasure. He’s just the the coolest horse.”

Hayley and Michael will close out this Youth World Show by competing in L2 Hunter Under Saddle tomorrow.
