Great Opportunity for Both AQHA and APHA Horses at Special Event in New Smyrna Beach, Florida

On July 23rd and 24th in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, the East Coast Quarter Horse Association was the host for an APHA special event. The APHA special event was sponsored by Liza Houghton and Craig L. Burkhard, National Paint Horse Director. It was a great opportunity for APHA and AQHA horses to get to show at a combined event.

The special event offered APHA Halter, Color, Trail, Western Pleasure, Western Riding, Hunter Under Saddle, and Ranch Horse. Several of the event classes were two point classes. The special event had 50+ entries.

What made this event a very special weekend for Paint Horses was over $600 in gift cards, chosen by random draw, that were given out to Paint Horse exhibitors. Craig L. Burkhard was chairman of the gift card donations. With the generous support of local Paint Horse owners and local businesses, a variety of gift cards and gift items were given away after each special event class.

Since Florida does not offer any Paint Horse Shows during June-August, this event gave a venue to show your Paint Horse without having to travel out of state. Craig and Liza feel this type of partnership benefits both APHA and AQHA horse owners.
