Miss Giorgia Grace Medows is having a Congress only few dream of. She’s only competed in two classes so far, and she already has two Congress Champion titles to her credit. Yesterday, Medows and her 13-year-old gelding named “Trooper” won the Novice Youth 13 and Under Western Riding. This afternoon, the pair won the 11 and Under Horsemanship.
“It’s crazy,” she says. “I just can’t believe it. You come here hoping to have the best ride you can. To actually accomplish something is the best feeling ever.”
“He is such a good boy; he works so hard every single time, no matter how tired he is or no matter how many classes I have to do. He’s always right there with me every step. He always has the best personality and is so sweet. He really loves his job.”
Coming up later in the week, Medows will ride Trooper in Hunt Seat Equitation and Western Pleasure, under the guidance of her trainer, Blake Weis, who has instructed Medows since she was just a small fry competitor.
During both today’s pattern and rail work, Medows was pleased with how Trooper stepped up to the plate to give her his very best.
“He did so good in every part,” she says. “My long trot to my slow down was so good. He was really paying attention. [Before the class] you can’t practice too much, because they will know the pattern. So, when I went in there, I don’t think I breathed the whole time until I came out!”
