Everything began innocently enough… A father out for an afternoon stroll with his young son decides to snap a quick selfie with a horse standing in a nearby field. The horse hammed things up for the camera showing off his pearly whites, which made for the perfect picture, one that turned out to be worth a £2,000 vacation. (That’s approximately $2,900.) Dad thought the picture turned out so great he’d enter it in a #MadeMeSmile contest to win a vacation from Thomson Holiday. The family won!
So, where does the drama come in? Apparently, the horse owner is upset because she thinks the man should’ve asked permission to take a photo of her horse. Furthermore, she’s demanding a portion of the winnings…
Unfortunately, that’s led to some childish social media bullying and clarification with lawyers about basic copyright law. Who do you think has rights to the photo… the photographer or the subject? We know the answer!
