Known to most as “Alan,” Linwood Alan Parker was a noted auctioneer and the man behind the microphone at some of the largest auctions in the country for the past 55 years.
Not only did Alan preside over some of the most prestigious horse auctions (25 years at the Quarter Horse Congress, 15 years at the NRHA Futurity, 15 years at the Breeders Classic, 23 years as Tattersalls, and more) he also conducted auctions for automobiles, farm equipment, exotic animals, antiques, and cattle, in addition to charity auctions for the American Diabetes Foundation, 4-H, Future Farmers of America, The American Quarter Horse Foundation, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners, just to name a few. One of Alan’s career accomplishments was selling AQHA stallion Invitation Only in 2005 for $2.35 million at the David James Dispersal.
Sadly, Alan passed away Saturday, March 25th at the age of 71.
Funeral Services have been set for this Sunday, April 2nd at 4 pm with a burial to be followed. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, April 1st, from 5-8 pm and on Sunday from 2-4 pm at the Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home in Lakeland, Florida.
The family has suggested, that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Alan’s memory to Cowboy Up Ministry, 1320 Brahma Drive, Valrico, Florida, 33594.
Our condolences go out to his sons, Hank and Jacob, and grandchildren, Ian and Laney, during this difficult time.
