Friday Morning Congress Recap: Reeve Wins Amateur Trail, Knapp Wins Select Trail, and Galyean Wins Amateur Pleasure

Amateur all-around exhibitors are definitely being put through their paces today at the Congress with a jam-packed schedule that includes almost every western performance event for the Amateur and Select divisions. Trail, Western Pleasure, Western Riding, and Horsemanship are among the disciplines that will be exhibited in the Celeste Arena.

Already this morning, three Congress Champions have been named. First, Darcy Reeve and Ima Petite Classic scored a Congress Championship in a very tough Amateur Trail class. The Reserve Champion was Elizabeth Rinder aboard Hot Rockin Potential. Rounding out the top three was Angela Wade with Smooth N Chocolatey. Wade also received a fifth place finish aboard One Hot Drama Mama and a tenth place finish with Gota Lota Rain.

Both Reeve and Wade returned for the Amateur Western Pleasure, which consisted of four splits and a finals. In what the judges’ described as an “incredibly fabulous” class, in a message relayed to the lineup by the announcer, Kristen Galyean won the Congress Championship aboard VS Flatline. Coming in Reserve was Reeve with A Certain Vino. Third place was Halle Saywell with Gifted Invitation.

In the Select Amateur Trail this morning it was Susan Knapp with Heavenly Mac who achieved the Congress Champion title. Vickie Kent with RV Won Good Version claimed the second place spot. Susan Johns and I Gotta Good Name came in third.

Currently taking place is the Select Western Riding with Amateur Western Riding to take place directly afterwards. Then, it will be time to switch over to breeches and boots for the 2-Year-Old Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle. Select horsemanship competitors will follow with the Limited division finals of the 3-Year-Old Western Pleasure to wrap up this evening at approximately 10 pm.
