Many of our AQHA Select friends are packing their bags, loading up the horse trailer, and heading down south to Amarillo, Texas for the 2015 AQHA Adequan Select World Show, which will take place August 28th- September 5th. To help everyone get in the mood for the exciting occasion, competitor Brister Shum decided to borrow a few words from country music legend, George Straight, to write her own version of “Amarillo By Morning.”
We LOVE it!
For My Select Friends- Apologies to George Strait
by: Brister Shum
Amarillo by morning, up from my nice home,
Everything that I’ve got is packed in my motor home.
When that sun is high in the Texas sky, I’ll be trucking with my Halter mare.
Amarillo by morning. Amarillo I’ll be there.
I took two Advils in Houston, took two more in Sante Fe.
Lost my keys and my glasses somewhere along the way.
I want a Top Ten when they open that pen and hope them judges ain’t blind.
Amarillo by morning. Amarillo’s on my mind.
Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone
Everything that I got goes to pay my RV loan
If I don’t win, it’s fine, I’ll medicate with wine.
I ain’t rich cause of horse show fees.
Amarillo by morning. Amarillo’s where I’ll be!
Good luck to everyone at the Select World Show! If you see Gordon Downey at the show grounds, be sure to pose for a picture with the latest edition of The Equine Chronicle and you might show up in a website photo gallery or featured on our Facebook page.
