Fogg and Schellenburg Win AjPHA Novice Youth Western Pleasure World Titles

The first western pleasure class of the AjPHA Youth World Show concluded this morning with a Canadian-born equestrienne taking top honors. Emma-Lee Schellenburg of British Columbia rode Chansation to a World Championship finish in Novice Youth 14-18 Western Pleasure. The Reserve World Champion was Mackenzie Verling with The Boss Impulse. Third place was Kimberlyn Crisp with Sheik’s Winning Colors.

In the Novice Youth 13 and under Western Pleasure, Camille Fogg rode her horse, Zipped From The Heart, to a unanimous win. Not only is this Fogg’s first trip to the Youth World, this is her fifth time competing at a horse show, ever.

“I thought that I was going to be able to place and everything, but I didn’t think I was going to be unanimous,” she says. “I’m so happy.”

Zipped From The Heart, aka “Colby,” is Fogg’s first show horse. She admits that during this first trip to the Youth World she was very nervous. Luckily, she had a wonderful support team in the form of her horse trainers at Gooding Show Horses, her parents, and her aunt, Michelle Bauer, who flew in especially for the occasion.

“I was really nervous,” she says. “They told me not to be nervous and that it didn’t matter what I placed, it just mattered about the ride. I think he was as good as he can be. He’s awesome.”

Fogg just turned 14 years old, so she will move up into the older age division next year. Western pleasure is currently her favorite event, but she’s looking forward to adding a few more classes to her repertoire.

“I love western pleasure, but I think I might want to get into other classes,  just for fun,” she says. “I think I really want to learn western riding and horsemanship. I think that would be awesome.”

After this pair competes in the 13 and under Western Pleasure today, they will head to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the NSBA World Show in a few months. We wish them the very best of luck!
