First Winner of QH Congress Trainer Award Program- Ted Chancey

Congratulations to our first of many 2020 Congress Trainer Award Program winners brought to you by Tribute Equine Nutrition! Ted Chancey will be receiving a $1,000 award.

It isn’t easy to put into words the impact Ted Chancey has had in Alicia Rapp’s show career. They’ve worked together for eleven years, and Alicia is honored to have the opportunity to ride with him every day. “He’s taught me more than I ever thought I was capable of learning,” Alicia said about her trainer, Ted Chancey. “He’s taught me what it takes to be a horseman.” Alicia has learned to ride two and three-year-olds and ride great reining horses. Ted has taken Alicia all over the country to show at NRHA and AQHA shows.

“Ted is a true horseman,” Alicia said. Ted’s love for his horses runs incredibly deep. “He has dedicated his life to making and breaking babies into accomplished show horses and green riders into champions,” Alicia said that Ted never puts wants in front of a horse’s needs. He may not receive the recognition for turning the many horses into champions that he has along the way.

Alicia had always dreamed of showing at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. She grew up showing on the Appaloosa circuit. When she purchased her Quarter Horse, she began exhibiting at NRHA shows in 2014. In 2016, Ted felt Alicia was ready to take on the Congress. At that, Congress Alicia won her first class at the All American Quarter Horse Congress and obtained the prestigious Congress Bronze trophy. “I will never forget the feeling- overwhelmed with joy, happy tears, and the handwork and preparation to get there,” Alicia said.

Together Alicia and Ted have accomplished so much, including Alicia’s very first win at the Congress. “I am forever grateful for Ted.”
