Final Set of Winners From 2013 Adequan North American Affiliate Championships

NRHA press release by: Mary Frances Flanders – The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) hosts the Adequan North American Affiliate Championships each year during the NRHA Futurity in Oklahoma City. The championships are for NRHA members and horses that have qualified through their respective Regional Affiliate Finals. Each finals sends its eight highest placing riders, plus ties, to the Adequan NAAC to compete for North American bragging rights. NRHA congratulates the following champions that were crowned during the final days of the show.

Bohman and Tuff Little Surprise – Adequan NAAC Non Pro and Intermediate Non Pro Champions

Madison Bohman (Morgan, Utah) and Tuff Little Surprise (Jerry Lees Surprise x Tuff Susie Fizz) represented the Mountain region well, scoring a 217.5 to take home the titles of Adequan NAAC Non Pro Champion and Adequan NAAC Intermediate Non Pro Champion. The gelding is owned by Glenda Bohman.

The Mountain region’s Game Day Surprise (Hang Ten Surprize x Dunit N Continental) and owner/rider Sharee Schwartzenberger (Meade, Colo.) received a 217 from the judges and took home the title of Adequan NAAC Non Pro Reserve Champion.

The reserve championship title in the Adequan NAAC Intermediate Non Pro was earned by Make It With A Twist (Dun It With A Twist x SR Mischief Maker) and Sandra Bentien (Auburn, Calif.). The pair represented the Northwest region and scored a 214.5 to earn the title.

Gould and Sweet Pepto Nic – Adequan NAAC Prime Time Non Pro Champions

Sweet Pepto Nic (Sweet Lil Pepto x Nics Whiz) and owner/rider Kay Gould (Greer, S.C.) did a fantastic job representing the East Central region, scoring a 212 to win the Adequan NAAC Prime Time Non Pro Champion title.

The Southest region’s Sail On Kuna Whiz and owner/rider Suzanne De Champlain (Reddick, Fla.) earned the title of reserve champion with a score of 211.5. The 2007 gelding is sired by Topsail Whiz and is out of the Shining Spark mare Shining Maid.

Crivelli and Rebas Best Step Yet – Adequan NAAC Silver Spurs Equine Rookie of the Year

The 2009 stallion, sired by Wimpys Little Step and out of the Grays Starlight mare, Starlights Reba and rider Lauren Crivelli (Visalia, Calif.) scored a 214 in the run-off to win the title. Rebas Best Step Yet is owned by Jeff Crivelli.

The reserve championship went to the Mountain region’s West Coast Beach Boy (West Coast Whiz x Reminics Command) and Sally Berg (Lafayette, Colo.) who scored a 212 in the run-off. The 2008 gelding is owned by Barn 66 LLC,

Nagy and Starbucks Freckle – Adequan NAAC Youth 13 & Under Champions

Starbucks Freckle (Smart Starbuck x Justa Spring Freckle) and owner/rider Kaitlyn Nagy (Peace River, Alberta, Canada) obtained the win in the Adequna NAAC Youth 13 & Under class with a scorching 215! The team represented Western Canada.

The reserve championship title was earned by Rollin Back Rawhide (Dunit Rawhide x Solo Poco Solano) and Charlize Zuraek (Los Altos Hills, Calif.) with a 213.5 for the Northwest region. The 1997 gelding is owned by Jake Cagle.

Medows / Ruf Tuf Whiz and Bohman / Tuff Little Surprise – Adequan NAAC Youth 14-18 Co-Champions

After a tie in the class and the run-off, co-champions were crowned in the Adequan NAAC Youth 14-18 class: Ruf Tuf Whiz (Topsail Whiz x Lil Ruf N Trouble) and owner/rider Jack Medows (Cuba, Mo.) representing the South Central region and Madison Bohman and Tuff Little Surprise (Jerry Lees Surprise x Tuff Susie Fizz) representing the Mountain region. Tuff Little Surprise is owned by Glenda Bohman.

Shining Shoes (Shining Spark x Miss War Doc) and the South Central region’s James Michael Philips (Hartshorne, Okla.) received the reserve champion title in the Adequan NAAC Youth 14-18 class. The 1995 gelding is owned by Michael and Carolyn Phillips.

Northwest Region wins Adequan NAAC Team Championship presented by SmartPak

The Northwest region won the 2013 Adequan NAAC Team Championship award presented by SmartPak with 154 points. Representatives were presented with a $2,500 check for their region during the NRHA Futurity Open awards ceremony. The South Central region placed second (140) and the Mountain region ended the competition in third place (115).
