Final Farnam AQHA Amateur All-Around Standings For 2013 World Show

During the last week, the Farnam All-Around Amateur contenders competed in a variety of events throughout the American Quarter Horse Association’s 2013 Bank of America Amateur World Championship Show. This year, 54 contenders competed for the Farnam All-Around Amateur award.

 

The 2013 Farnam All-Around Amateur is Meghan O’Malley of Suffolk, Virginia. O’Malley showed her American Quarter Horse, A Chanceof Blueskies. The 2002 buckskin mare by Sky Blue Walker and out of One Day By Chance (TB) was bred by Julie O’Brien of Southington, Ohio. O’Malley earned world championship titles in amateur working hunter, amateur hunter hack and amateur equitation over fences.

 

O’Malley and A Chanceof Blueskies received a prize package that included $15,000, plus $1,000 in Farnam products, an original Lisa Perry Bronze, an embroidered WeatherBeeta horse blanket and a rose bouquet.

 

The 2013 Farnam Reserve All-Around Amateur is Whitney Walquist-Vicars of Cleburne, Texas. Walquist-Vicars showed homebred American Quarter Horse Southwestern Gunman. Southwestern Gunman is a 2006 bay gelding by Dress Western and out of Ms Southern Border. The pair earned a world championship in amateur performance halter geldings, a reserve world championship title in amateur horsemanship, placed eighth in amateur hunt seat equitation and 10th in western riding.

 

Walquist-Vicars and Southwestern Gunman received a price package that included $5,000, plus $500 in Farnam products and a silver bowl.

 

Placing third was Hannah Elizabeth Bedwell of Ball Ground, Georgia, who showed American Quarter Horse Regal To A Te. The 2002 bay gelding by Regal Rhapsody and out of Sierress was bred by Kim Wilcox of Canton, Georgia. Bedwell and Regal To A Te earned a reserve world champion title in amateur hunter hack, placed third in amateur equitation over fences and fourth in amateur working hunter.

 

Placing fourth was Jim Bound of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, who showed American Quarter Horse Bound To Be Dun, owned by J.B. Bound of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. The 2008 red dun gelding by Dun It Gotta Gun and out of Not Dun Cookin was bred by Lisa Lubbert of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Bound and Bound To Be Dun earned a reserve championship title in amateur heeling and placed third in amateur tie-down roping.

 

Placing fifth was Lori Wyman of Osceola, Nebraska, who showed American Quarter Horse Little Doc Lady. The 2004 buckskin mare by Lucky Little Lena and out of Miss Thumb Badger was bred by David Nogle of Palatine, Illinois. Wyman and Little Doc Lady earned a reserve world championship in amateur working cow horse and were sixth in amateur ranch horse pleasure.

 

The third- through fifth-place winners received a prize package that included $1,500, plus $250 in Farnam products.

The AQHA World Show is the pinnacle event for American Quarter Horse owners and exhibitors around the world, who must qualify for the event by earning a predetermined number of points to compete in each of the classes representing halter, English and western disciplines. More than 3,390 entries from the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Mexico and the United Kingdom are competing for 98 world championships at this year’s event, November 8-23 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.
