#FeelGoodFriday, Pope Francis Consoles Child Who’d Lost His Pet With Comforting Thought About Animals and Heaven

For this week’s #FeelGoodFriday, we wanted to share a link from The New York Times that describes a recent interaction between Pope Francis and a very distraught little boy whose dog had died. In response to the boy’s sadness, the Pope was overheard saying, “Paradise is open to all of God’s creatures.”

Of course, since that time, the comment has been analyzed for further meaning by animal protection groups, anti-slaughterhouse advocates, religious ethics professors, and even pro-vegetarians. Still, at the very least, it’s a wonderful gesture that a figure like the head of the Roman Catholic Church would take a moment out of his day to comfort a small child.

It’s also comforting to have confirmation of what many of us have known in our hearts all along…
