Exciting Mare Power News from the Breeders Halter Futurity
From Karen Kennedy, The Breeders Halter Futurity:
In 2025, we will offer an Intermediate Division of the Mare Power Weanling Classes. This division will be a class within each Mare Power class to include:
Mare Power Jr. Weanling Colts and Geldings
Mare Power Sr. Weanling Colts and Geldings
Mare Power Jr. Weanling Fillies
Mare Power Sr. Weanling Fillies
Each class will have a $25,000 purse to be distributed among the participating Intermediate Exhibitors. The following criteria will apply:
- Exhibitor cannot have placed in the top 5 of any Weanling Mare Power Classes in the last 2 years (2023, 2024).
- Open to Amateur and Open Exhibitors.
- Anyone placing outside of the top 20 will receive a $250 Finalist Payout.
- Entry Fee is $250.
- Only foals with mares enrolled in the 2025 Mare Power Program are eligible to participate. All foals must be nominated to the BHF.
Also, in 2025, we will offer Mare Power Yearling Open Classes. Each class will have a $33,333 purse. The classes will include:
Mare Power Yearling Stallions
Mare Power Yearling Geldings
Mare Power Yearling Mares
The following criteria will apply:
- These classes are for Open Exhibitors only. Yearlings shown in this class may have a different exhibitor than other classes.
- Entry Fee is $250.
- Only yearlings with mares enrolled in the 2024 Mare Power Program are eligible to participate. All yearlings must be nominated to the BHF in accordance with BHF guidelines.
- All horses are eligible to participate regardless of show record.
- Anyone placing outside of the top 20 will receive a $250 Finalist Payout.

If your name is on this list, you are not eligible for the Intermediate Division of the 2025 Mare Power Weanling Classes, but you are still eligible to compete in the regular Mare Power Classes.
