One of the most highly anticipated events at the 2013 Reichert Celebration is fast approaching. The inaugural Western Pleasure Super Sires classes are scheduled to take place Saturday, September 7th at approximately 5 pm in the John Justin Arena just prior to the Equine Sports Medicine 2-Year-Old Open Stakes Western Pleasure Championship.
The inaugural event will consist of two classes: Three-Year-Old Open Non Pro Western Pleasure and Three-Year-Old Limited Non Pro Western Pleasure. In order for three-year-old horses to be eligible to compete, they must have been sired by one of the Western Pleasure Super Sires. The Super Sires stallion list boasts some of the best in the business including A Sudden Holiday, How Bout This Cowboy, A Touch of Sudden, Hubba Hubba Huntin, Blazing Hot, Nite Moves, Diesel Only, One Hot Invitation, Extremely Hot Chips, One N Only, Gettin Impulsive, Presidential Order, Good I Will Be, Too Sleepy To Zip, Hotroddin Zippo, and VS Code Blue.
In addition to a guaranteed minimum purse of $80,000, the Super Sires event has a laundry list of cash bonuses, prizes, gift certificates, and special awards that will be presented to lucky exhibitors in the class.
Today, in order to “Celebrate” and welcome the Western Pleasure Super Sires program to the Reichert Celebration, there will be a Super Sires Party from 3-7 in the John Justin building in the newly-created air-conditioned room that is located directly across from the Reichert sale horses stalling area.
Everyone at the show is encouraged to attend. There will be free food, a cash bar, and the opportunity to chat with attending Committee members and stallion owners. Kick up your heels to the sounds of Kids of Western music and enjoy a mini putt-putt golf game. This is the perfect opportunity to take a little break from the heat before the Harris Leather and Silverworks 3-Year-Old and Over Limited Western Pleasure class this evening at 7 pm in the John Justin.
“The party will take place in the room directly behind the show office,” says Western Pleasure Super Sires Executive Director Liz Hay. “The cash bar will start at three and food will be served from four to seven.”
“There will be stallion owners and committee members there if people would like to get more information about what sires are in the program.”
A special note for exhibitors: If you are planning to compete in the Super Sires event on Saturday please stop by the show office to check in and present a copy of your horse’s papers and breed registration cards in order to pick up your entry packet and back number.
Additional questions about the program may be directed to any one of the Western Pleasure Super Sires committee members.
