Winning the 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle Challenge this evening was Julie Schmidt with Im All Good. The Reserve Champion was Shane Christensen with Aloha Sky. Third was Alyse Roberts with All Systems Go. Fourth was Dale Sullens with Strike N It Big. Fifth was Laura Spell with Sum Fabulous Party.

SPB Western Pleasure was won by Erik Parsons with Rockin My Lazy. The Reserve Champion was RJ King with Beyond Original. Third was Dale Sullens with He’s A Lazy Hotrod. Fourth was Chanda Burke with Invite Beth. Fifth was Doug Baucom with He’s Truly Good.

Winning Green Western Pleasure was Mike Hachtel with Been There Scene It. Mike has had Been There Scene It, aka “Mikey,” in his barn since he was a young foal, as he was bred and raised by Debi and Loren East. The 3-year-old is by Scenic Impulse and out of Sensational Lollipop. “I’ve seen him at the ranch his whole life,” Mike says. “His mind and his strength remind me of his mother.”

Mikey has only been shown a handful of times; during one of those occasions, he won at the Worldwide Paint Horse Congress. “A gentleman I’ve been doing business with for years in Wisconsin owns him, so maybe next year he will show in amateur competition. He’s the best-minded horse there is. It doesn’t get any easier. You don’t have to longe him. He’s the perfect show horse.”

The Reserve Champion was Jeffrey Gibbs with Hesa Good Ride. Third was Tim Gillespie with Gotta Glo Slo. Fourth was Sara Simons with Skyfall Sensation. Fifth was RJ King with Satisfying Sensation.

In the Non-Pro 2-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, Sharnai Thompson repeated her win from earlier in the week win Because She’s Worth It. The Reserve Champion was Ashley Bland with Finally My Time. Third was Tracy Stenroos with Want Me Don’t Cha. Fourth was Andrea Foss with Moxie Machine. Fifth was Elizabeth Jakovich with Big Shoes To Fill.

Winning Masters Amateur Senior Western Pleasure was Pamela Heisinger with Sensational Cookie. The Reserve Champion was Marylyn Caliendo with Inthesweetshop. Third was Susan Prince with One Flashy Sensation. Fourth was Carla Perri with Only Good Times. Fifth was Kevin Smith with Sleepin In My Socks.

In Classic Amateur Senior Western Pleasure, Erin Bradshaw rode her 10-year-old, bay stallion, John Simon, to win his fifth World Championship title in Western Pleasure, four of which were earned with Erin in the amateur division.

“I was beyond pleased,” Erin says. “He was on today. Scott [Weiss] had him completely locked in, and he performed great. It was really special because last night we won the 2-Year-Old Non Pro Western Pleasure with his son, Elicious. It was nice to come back with him and win, as well as one of his babies.”

“He reminds me a lot of John when he lopes, and they’ve all inherited his great jog. He reminds me the most of him, even more than I’m Johnny Cash.”

Speaking of “Cash,” Erin will be showing him tomorrow in the Classic Amateur Junior Western Pleasure. Later on in the show, John Simons will be making his debut in Green Western Riding with James Saubolle in the saddle, as well as Senior Western Pleasure with Erin’s fiancé, Scott Weiss.

The Reserve Champion in Classic Amateur Senior Western Pleasure was Spike Roberts with She’s Inviting. Third was Tami Dietrich-Dobbs with Seems Like Heaven. Fourth was Ali Eidson with Gametime Sensation. Fifth was Cody Caliendo with Beyond Sensational.

Finally, Jan Wolfe rode Doin What She Likes to win Novice Amateur Western Pleasure. The Reserve Champion was Michelle Reynolds with In Victory Lane. Third was Jill Stenroos with Quita Machine. Fourth was Stacy Basinger with Spent The Night. Fifth was Kenneth Inchiostro with Machine Shop.

Jan has numerous World Champion titles to her credit, but this is her first in Western Pleasure. Her mount for today was a new horse, a five-year-old mare named “Miranda.” “She’s sweet and kind, and she never gets upset,” Jan says.

MastersFb2Jan partnered with her trainer, Kristin Layher, to develop a game plan for today’s class. “We decided I should go out and ride the best I could in the preliminaries for the chance to make it back to the finals. Then, we fixed our mistakes in the finals, like letting her drift off the rail and putting her back together in the corners.”
