Press release
America’s Horse in Art Show & Sale will return in August 2014 to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum. Each year, one artist is given the great honor of being selected as the show’s signature artist. The signature artist for the seventh annual America’s Horse in Art is Edgar Sotelo of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
“I am honored to announce Edgar Sotelo as the 2014 America’s Horse in Art signature artist,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Don Treadway Jr. “The American Quarter Horse has long been a focus of Western art, and we appreciate having a great Western artist like Edgar headlining our art show.”
The show’s signature artist creates a piece of art that becomes the visual representation of the show for that year. The piece is featured on print and online marketing materials and also as a print when available.
Sotelo is currently creating the work of art that will be used as the signature piece. A largely self-taught artist, Sotelo paints vibrant, accurate depictions of ranch scenes, charreadas (Mexican rodeos) and portraits. Sotelo has received numerous awards, participated in several art shows and has had his work featured on the covers of various publications, including America’s Horse.
