“Goodbyes are not forever and aren’t the end; they are only until we meet again.” ― Vi Keeland.
The day before Janis Blobner of Pennsylvania passed, her family took her partner of 20 years, a Tennessee Walking Horse named Storm, to the hospital to say goodbye. “He was giving her kisses, and you could tell he was saying goodbye,” says Alivia Miller, who fondly referred to Janis as her “mimi.”
“When my mimi was in the hospital (Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, PA), she asked to see him and thankfully the hospital staff and my father, Pappy, and my uncles made arrangements, and we were able to take him,” Alivia says.
As soon as Storm saw her, he was happy and Mimi was all smiles, explains Alivia. “He was resting his head on her, nuzzling her, and he understood what was happening. These two shared an amazing bond and both loved each other very much. Mimi made sure he was always taken care of and spoiled.”
Janis and the 26-year-old Tennessee Walker were best friends for two decades, enjoying trail riding with friends, the occasional fun show with her granddaughters, and a few of Alivia’s cousins learned to ride on Storm. “He is loved by everyone who rode and boarded with Janis,” says Alivia. “My cousin, Elise, and others now visit and take care of him at his wonderful boarding facility.’
“These two were definitely best friends and I’m sure Mimi can’t wait until she gets to ride him through the trails of heaven when he comes.”
