Today’s EC Photo of the Day comes from Loveland, CO. where the inaugural Midsummer Classic is currently underway. This first-time event mixes up the traditional horse show line-up with added money for multiple breeds participating in a wide variety of disciplines, all on one stage.

The unique schedule offers AQHA, APHA, ApHC and all NSBA approved breeds an opportunity to compete for $30,000 in added money and awards from Perri’s Leather. In addition, Paints and Appaloosas can compete for two sets of points.

“The goal for this show is to give competitors and talented horses a chance to compete against each other. Regardless of the breed, we all play the same game,” says Robert Dehn, Show Founder. “We’re excited to try something different and we look forward to having a ton of fun.

The show is being hosted by Robert Dehn Equine Productions and managed by Mark Harrell Horse Shows. Judges include Kendra Weis, Rob Meneely, Rod Safty, and Charlene Carter.

“I’m excited to be part of a unique horse show that’s set up for all breeds to have the opportunity to compete for the same money and prizes,” says Mark Harrell, Show Manager. “I’m also looking forward to working my first show in Colorado.”

Other aspects that make this event original are the open all-breed Ranch Riding futurity sponsored by Cinch, an NSBA Boot Camp before the show featuring four of the industry’s top clinicians, and a class offered at the show specifically for clinic goers.
