“This is my old horse, Dont Take No Lip aka ‘Tex,’” says Meredith Clearwaters. “He was my first real show horse I had the privilege of leasing and showing. He taught me how to do so many things and do them correctly. He also opened my heart to the hunter under saddle world, too! We had a very special bond – unlike any I’ve ever had with other horses. We had some not so good rides from time to time but also some really good ones. He is the sweetest boy and the best teacher a girl could’ve had.”
“I love Tex so much and hope he’s enjoying retirement. I hope everyone gets to experience the special bond like I had with him. He’s a one of a kind type of horse. He is the definition of a saint. I always let little kids as young as two-and-a-half ride him.
One of my favorite memories with Tex is when I put my mom on him and she rode him around all by herself (she had only ridden a horse two times in her life before that, never a show horse) That showed me how much I can really trust that boy. There’s nobody I wouldn’t trust him with.”
Thank you to Meredith for the lovely tribute! If you have a great photo of the day, please send it to us by email: Delores.Kuhlwein@EquineChronicle.com.
