EC Photo of the Day – A True Thrill

Crystal A. Parker sits astride Hickory’s Dual Thrill, aka Moses.  They fought leptospirosis and a myriad of complications for two years which resulted in the removal of his left eye in February 2022.

Crystal says Moses has since returned to the sorting and penning arena like nothing ever happened, and that he’s the best horse she’s ever swung a leg over.

Horses can adapt surprisingly well to using one eye, and we wrote about another such horse, Alcatraz, in our March/April 2020 issue, and the article includes the veterinary ophthalmologist perspective on this topic: http://www.equinechronicle.com/alcatraz-the-one-eyed-stallion/
