Golden girl, Deanna Green, has done it again winning Youth Western Riding at the 2015 AQHYA World Show for the second year in a row with Blazinmytroublesaway. Green rode “Buttercup” to the World Championship with a score of 232.

Coming in Reserve was Taylor Searles with Al Be Sweet On You, with a score of 230. Moa Berglund of Sweden rode Grey Asset to take the bronze today with a score of 228. Berglund was the highest scoring rider during yesterday’s preliminaries.

Kara Vickery rode Strawberri Wine to place fourth. Kacie Scharf and A Movin Machine rounded out the top five. The 13 and Under winner in the class was 10-year-old Cheyenne “Scooter” Augsburger aboard Dynamic Allnite Long. The pair placed tenth overall in the class.

The pattern for today’s class was #3, where cross changes and line changes alternate, which suited Green and Buttercup perfectly.

“As soon as I loped off, I could tell that she was going to be really good. I pushed her forward as soon as I loped off. She felt like she would give me whatever I needed. I was really nervous about it, but she wasn’t.”

Earlier in the preliminaries, Green and Buttercup sat in the third place spot. While some riders would prefer not to sit at the top of the field going into the finals, due to the extra pressure it can provide, Green wasn’t bothered at all.

“It really didn’t matter for me,” she says. “I just wanted to make it back and have a good pattern.”

This dynamic duo only gets a moment’s rest because they will compete 96th in this afternoon’s Horsemanship preliminaries. Later on in the show, Green will show Buttercup in Trail and her other horse, Bestseatnthehouse, in Western Pleasure.

“I’ve always really liked all of these other classes,” she says. “Buttercup is so much fun to show, and she’s so talented at everything. It makes all her other classes so much better, because of that diversity. Also, I think she shows a lot better in Western Pleasure than she used to, not that she ever showed badly, but it gives her mind something else to think about.”
