Greetings from Conyers! The first day of the Stars N Stripes kicked off with a bang, literally! Thursday evening exhibitors were treated to a welcome dinner sponsored by All That Show Clothing and Dean Bogart Performance Horses. In true Georgia style, the thunderstorms rolled in making for a bit of a wet first day! The thunderstorms however didn’t hold back the show as Showmanship, Halter and Hunter Under Saddle classes held big numbers and deep competition.
The day started out with large Showmanship classes including 24 in the Amateur and 22 in the 13 and under. Big winners and circuit champions included Tony Anderman in the Level 3 Amateur after executing a phenomenal pattern that included many turns and a difficult L shaped back. Beth Case aboard Hubbout a Dance braved the mud and captured the first circuit of the Hunter Under Saddle in the junior division.
As the Hunter Under Saddle classes continued up on the hill, despite a few showers, the Equitation classes began in the covered arena. Top novice amateur all-around team Brianna Alvarez and The Krymsun Kat took wins and the circuit in the novice amateur after a flawless pattern. That team has taken home the novice amateur all-around award at the Gulf Coast, Florida Winter Circuit, and Lucky 7 Classic and looks to be a force to be reckoned with here as well! Cydney Benes started her first Stars N Stripes as an amateur exhibitor strong with high placings in a deep Amateur Hunter Under Saddle and an impressive clean sweep in the Amateur Equitation.
Exhibitors are currently enjoying beautiful, clear skies, a cool breeze and big Trail numbers! Until next time!
