The highly acclaimed Red Hills International Horse Trials is scheduled to take place March 6-9 in Tallahassee, Florida this week. In addition to Dressage, Cross Country, and Stadium Jumping competition, the event will provide delicious food, quality shopping, and educational exhibits for spectators.
Ever wondered what it would be like to tackle some of those impressive cross country obstacles like the Trial horses? Now’s your chance! A fun event for all attendees is the Cross Country Challenge (for humans). The run consists of 2.2 miles and includes 24 obstacles at the Red Hills Horse Trials location.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete on the official cross country course that the horses will be running later that same day. The race will take place Sunday, March 9th, 2014 at 8 a.m. Shuttles will operate to and from the race site starting at 7 a.m. Parking will be available at Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park, Gate A, 1275 Miller Landing Rd. All runners must be off the course by 10 a.m. for groundskeeping to prepare for the horse competition that will begin at 10:30 a.m.
The fee to compete is $22 and includes a race t-shirt and a one-day pass to attend the Red Hills Horse Trials. Runners can register for the race and pick up packets at the Science of Speed at 2784 Capital Circle NE on Thursday, March 6th from 4-7 p.m. and Friday, March 7th from 4-6 p.m.
