Wrapping up a full day of Congress competition were two evening limited futurities. First, in the NSBA Two-Year-Old Non Pro Limited Hunter Under Saddle Stakes Amy Walls rode Iron I A Legacy to claim a Congress Champion title. Amy bred and raised Iron I A Legacy and currently owns his mother. This win tonight marks her first Congress Champion title.

“It’s rewarding. Maybe my husband will like horses now!” she jokes. “It’s nice to be able to have owned the mother, raised them, foaled them out, and then see what they turn out to be. We also have other siblings of his as well.”

Iron I A Legacy is by Iron Age and out of a mare named Foxy’s Legacy. Although this horse’s dam was known to have a fairly hot temperament, Iron I A Legacy is definitely a gentle giant. “He’s very mellow,” she says. “I like that he’s lazy and you can push him and handle him. He is a natural moving horse, not animated. He’s very free-flowing. We’re lucky enough that he was big, so good-minded, and had natural movement.”

Yesterday evening, trainer Tami Thurston rode Iron I A Legacy to an eighth place finish in the Two-Year-Old Open Hunter Under Saddle Stakes.

The Reserve Champion in the class tonight was Michelle Petrovsky with Al Be Your Alibi. Third place was Alexandra Chavez with Pretty Assets. Fourth place was Chad Sandoval with I Dazzle. Fifth place was Sarah Nimigan with Like A Boss.

Sixth place was Caitlin Dunsmore with Legs Luther. Seventh place was Becky Durrett with Don’t Doubt This. Eighth place was Tonya Carmean with Cool Lookin Loper. Ninth place was Brittany Brown with Hott and Dangerous. Tenth place was Rachel Reilly with The Next To Escape.

Next, in the NSBA Three-Year-Old Limited Open Western Pleasure Futurity, Steve Reams and Southerncomfortzone repeated their win from earlier this week in Green Western Pleasure. Reams and “Georgie” have had a very successful year being named the Reserve Champions in the Hylton Maiden Western Pleasure and tying to win the Novice Horse Western Pleasure at The Little Futurity.

The Reserve Champion in tonight’s class was RJ King with Momma Knows Best. Third place was Kaitlin Leblanc with KM Win With The Best. Fourth place was Tate Oakley with Chum Machine. Fifth place was Charlie Cole with VS Roll Call. Sixth place was Wade Black with Just a Machine. Seventh place was Shane Young with The Pineapple Xpress. Eighth place was Adam Mathis with Sleep Machine. Ninth place was Blake Weis with Some Kinda Radical. Tenth place was Dustin Davis with MS RL Flashy Goodbar.
