The Big A and Stars N Stripes horse show has gotten off to a good, albeit hot, start! July 1st was the first day of classes and the Halter, Showmanship, Hunter Under Saddle and Hunt Seat Equitation all had very impressive numbers.
I personally showed in Showmanship and Hunt Seat Equitation, and I’m very thankful they allowed us to take our hunt coats off while waiting for results. I’m sure that if I had to sit in the sun any longer I would’ve passed out…
July 2nd was reserved solely for Trail, and for good reason. It took every bit of 10 hours to complete and really left no room for other classes! The numbers were phenomenal. Some noteworthy ones are as follows:
After showing in Novice Youth Trail, I had just enough time to get undressed, completely untack my horse, Virtually Perfect, and go get some lunch from the Sweet Shop before getting ready all over agin for Senior Trail.
Also, at the Big A and Stars N Stripes, Mark Harrell is introducing the Eastern States Championships. It’s only $25 to enter and the winners get trophies. Exhibitors placing 2nd-5th get very nice ribbons.
One of my good friends, Kara Kaufman, as the winner of the ESC Equitation on July 1st! She told me that she was “very excited to be a part of something new like the Eastern States Championship.” Also, she likes “seeing new opportunities to show off hard work like the ESC allows competitors to do.”
I hope everyone stays out of the heat, and good luck to everyone showing today!
