Christmas Fun Photos and Results – 2022 ShoMe Holiday ShoDown

A horse show in December in Michigan? Yes, if it’s the ShoMe Holiday ShoDown.

ShowMe Horse Shows in Michigan is an open, all-breed circuit built around doing things differently, and just for fun.  “All three of our shows have a different theme and outside-the-box classes,” says Liz Gear, who owns and operates ShoMe Horse Shows with her husband, Kurtis Gear.

Their highly popular ShoMe Holiday ShoDown that took place December 16-18, 2022, at Michigan State University Pavilion, sold out in less than 15 minutes when they opened reservations this year (over 350 stalls).

“The main event is the Friday night Hot Cocoa Social and Freestyle Christmas Ride. Winner of the Freestyle competition was Jeanne Hugo with her hands free showmanship performance!” explains Liz Gear.

Other extracurricular activities outside the main horse show were an exhibitor pizza dinner, Santa’s Helpers (groom ride), cookie decorating, daily breakfast and the Garland ride. “All of these events are sponsored,” says Kate Barrett, social media manager.

The holiday atmosphere is so much fun amid the competition, that a local news station, WLNS, reported on the phenomenon. Watch the news video here:
