Missy Clark’s name is synonomous with excellence in equitation. This winter, she’s bringing her expertise to the Gold Coast Quarter Horse Circuit in Tampa, FL. On December 30, 2013, Clark will host an Equitation Over Fences Clinic at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

“I am so excited to sign Lacey to our Western team,” said Walter. “She has been really successful at some of the highest levels of competition, including the Congress and AQHYA World Show. Lacey works extremely hard and is the type of student-athlete that will be incredibly successful both in the NCEA and at TCU. We look forward to next fall when she arrives.”

The 2014 Dixie National Quarter Horse Show kicks off in Jackson, MS., on February 4th with the Equestrians with Disabilities Show to be held in the Kirk Fordice Equine Center beginning at 9 a.m. The 2013 show was a huge success with over 50 AQHA entries and 100 Open entries! There is still time to enter to participate.

Not Ruf At All and NRHA Professional Jason Vanlandingham (Whiteboro, Texas) marked the score to beat from draw number 2 in the second section of the finals. Their 225.5 held through nearly 30 more runs and they claimed the level 4 open championship. To date, he has earned more than $31,000 including championships at the Hollywoodstinseltown and High Roller Reining Classic Futurities.

After a thrilling performance stacked full of high scores, the Shootout ended with a top score of 224.5, turned in by Colonels Smart Spook (Smart Spook x Colonels Cattin Gun) and NRHA Million Dollar Rider Jordan Larson

From the fifth draw in the second section, Mandy McCutcheon (Aubrey, Texas) set the bar for the remaining finalists. She earned a 218 from the judges on her Ms Whiz Dunit to win the title of 2013 Cinch NRHA Futurity Non Pro Champion.

To prepare for the show, students learned about the role the American Quarter Horse played in the history of the United States. Each student then created artwork that depicted those lessons, along with an essay describing the art.
