What Is CA$H FOR COLOR?

The CA$H FOR COLOR Program is run by stallion owners for the pure purpose of giving back to breeders and exhibitors of color horses. CA$H FOR COLOR is a program with the substance, planning and experience to have lasting impact on the industry. Appaloosa, Buckskin, Paint, Pinto, Palomino, and Roan stallions with full color registration in one of the respective color breeds are eligible for the program.

Who is behind the scenes and what can we expect?

Michelle Johnston, the founder of the program, is working with another stallion owner, Kate Joos, DVM, and both are determined to better the color horse industry.

“The mission of this program is to provide a platform to promote Color Breeds and incentivize breeding to enrolled stallions,” explains Michelle Johnston.

“Our goal is to provide a program which showcases breeders and enthusiasts. Participants will have the opportunity to earn CA$H and prizes while having fun with their families, friends, and horses, all in an effort to encourage, strengthen and promote the future of the Color Breeds and the horse industry as a whole,” adds Michelle. “As stallion owners, we will run this program with full transparency and integrity.”

Michelle is grateful for the help of fellow equestrian Karla Jones who helps with the social media updates and sponsorships for the program. Karla is also assisting with all the paperwork and behind the scenes administrative duties required to run the program. “Results and payouts will be published, and financial statements will be available to the owners of enrolled stallions,” reveals Michelle. “We will work tirelessly to maintain the honor and reputation of this program and the stallions enrolled.”

What is available for mare owners?

Stallion services are available for purchase now on both the CA$H FOR COLOR Facebook page and website. Each stallion is sold for 50% of his advertised stud fee plus a $100 administration fee. This is a great opportunity to buy a color breeding at a discount while supporting a new program determined to give back to the color horses.  Stallion Enrollment is open for new stallions until June 1st, then enrollment closes until the show completes in November.

How successful has the program been so far?

In November 2021, the program’s inaugural year, CA$H FOR COLOR awarded over $64,000 in CA$H and prizes.  In 2022, the program grew exponentially in both offspring nominations and entries with an awarded total of over $103,000.  “We are so thankful for our wonderful Sponsors who help to make this all possible.  At CA$H FOR COLOR, our sponsors make good shows into GREAT SHOWS!” Michelle says.

Each exhibitor receives an exhibitor goody bag that contains products from our sponsors, including full size products as well as gift certificates and a check! Every entry in every class received a check!
