Three more World Champions were crowned this morning at the 2016 AQHYA World Show. First, Bradyn Burke led Shez Cool N Elusive to win Yearling Fillies.
This is Bradyn’s second time competing at the Youth World Show. Three years ago, he showed a 3-year-old and placed in the top ten, but this is his first World Champion title.
“We’ve had Eva since she was two months old,” he says. “I started showing her last year at futurities when she was a weanling.” Bradyn enjoys showing young horses because, “They’ve got a little more spunk to them, and they’re a little more unpredictable.”
Bradyn and Eva currently compete under the guidance of Justin Bisel, and the trio is heading to the All American Quarter Horse Congress this fall. Coming into the Youth World this year, they had no expectations they would be heading home with a golden globe. “We were thinking we’d at least get in the top ten, but we weren’t thinking we’d get this! Eva is well-put-together, and, for the most part, quiet. She’s pretty mouthy; she tries to eat me all the time! But, she has a pretty cute head and her neck really flows.”
When Bradyn returns home, he still hasn’t decided if his new trophy will go in the office or his bedroom…
The Reserve World Champion in the class was Victoria Summers with Miss Dellta. Third place was Cash Castle with El Antes Secret. Fourth place was Cassidy Jensen with Attitudz Everything. Fifth place was Isaiah Page with Intentional Ruby.
In the 2-Year-Old Mares class of 20 qualifiers, Cassidy Jensen led BPF Cheek To Cheek to a big win. “CC” is a chestnut mare by The Top Secret and out of OBB Cool To Touch.
“I went in with no expectations,” Cassidy says. “I wanted to show my horse, have a good go, and get the job done.” Cassidy and CC did just that, even thought they’ve only competed once before as a team. CC is prepared and fit by Rick Leek Quarter Horses.
“The class was really long, but I kept going and showing,” Cassidy says. “She was good. Every once in a while, they like to fidget and move, because they get a little stiff. But, other than that, every time a judge came by, her ears went forward, her head went up, and she showed like a champ.”
Cassidy believes CC brings a little something extra to the show pen. “Everything is still new and exciting [for a baby],” she says. “She’s a pretty picture to look. She catches your eye. You want to keep coming back, and that’s what I like about her.”
Earlier this morning, Cassidy showed her yearling filly, Attitudz Everything, to a fourth place finish. Later on in the show, she will compete with her three-year-old mare, TF Covered in Kisses, aka “Freckles.” “I’ve been really lucky this year to have three really great mares,” she says.
The Reserve Champion was Shyanne Smith with So Worth It. Third place was Carissa Holliday with Cool View. Fourth place was Monica Hamm with She’s Classyfied. Fifth place was Calyn Halvorson with Intended Too.
Finally, Kaylee Hamm led SS Rampage to win 3-Year-Old Geldings. The Reserve Champion was Lauren Gralla with He’s That Cool. Third place was Monica Hamm with Coolsified Secret. Fourth place was Tyler Shafer with Cryptonite. Fifth place was Abbie Beckmann with Blowen Smoke.
