Beth Case was in the irons of the stunning, 3-year-old, black, Hubbout A Dance to win Junior Hunter Under Saddle and the first AQHA World Championship title for the Porter family. We had the chance to chat with the Porter sisters, Alicia and Breanne, who were astounded when they heard the final results.
“I thought, ‘Oh, we’ll be a finalist and get a vest!'” Breanne laughs.
“When they got to the top three, I thought they might have announced it wrong!” Alicia adds.
“We’re still in shock!” Breanne says.
Both sisters were very impressed with Beth’s presentation of their homegrown gelding this evening, citing her decision to show him primarily towards the center of the pen. “I thought he was really good today, and I thought she did a good job showing him, because she kept him off the rail and presented him really well. I think it’s always her strategy, at least with any horse we’ve had with her.”
Hubbout A Dance just came off an amazing Congress, where he claimed a number of titles in different divisions. “He won the Limited Non Pro Three-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, was Reserve in Amateur Hunter Under Saddle, was Reserve in Open Non Pro Three-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, was Reserve in Junior, and won the Open Three-Year-Old!” Alicia says. “I thought he looked fantastic at the Congress, and then seeing him here, it’s as if he peaked even more. Timing was everything.”
Breanne believes it is this gelding’s smooth movement and easygoing personality that gives him an edge in this particular discipline. “He really points his front leg, and he has a deep hock. Overall, I think he’s really fluid.”
“His expression is always so positive and easygoing; it’s the same with his personality,” Alicia adds.
Coming up next, Alicia will show Hubbout A Dance in Amateur L2 and L3 Hunter Under Saddle.
The Reserve Champion was Stacy Huls with You Could Be Next. Third was Keith Miller with Pretty Assets. Fourth was Ryan Painter with Not Just Anyhoo. Fifth was Katy Jo Zuidema with Al Wayz On Your Mind.
