After a long day of Trail yesterday at the 2017 AQHA World Championship Show, Becky George reigned supreme in Senior Trail L2, showing her client’s 6-year-old gelding to a big win. Be Won RV Machine, aka “Bud,” is owned by Yvonne Robeson and has only been in Becky’s program since January of this year.

“We bought him in Florida at the NSBA Sun and Fun Show at Fox Lea Farms,” she says. “I’ve actually tried to buy him two or three times before that. I just liked him the first time I saw him. Finally, after I saw him again at the Big A last year, I convinced his owners to sell.”

“He adjusted to my program super quickly. He’s actually leading the AQHA Honor Roll in L2 Trail. Yvonne was a Reserve World Champion in Novice Amateur Trail at the NSBA World this year, and she was a Reserve Congress Champion in Novice Select Trail.”

What is it about Bud that allows him to be successful in multiple divisions? “He’s just so slow-legged, and he’s really super easy to maneuver through everything, because he has a really nice stride. He’s super good in the bridle, and he stays good through his topline. He’s so honest when you go in and show. He’s a little looky, but just enough that he’s pretty when he goes around the pen. It’s super fun when you’re out there, because it’s so easy to get your spots, and you’re never stressed. It has to be the most fun I’ve ever had showing a Trail horse.”

BerrisBecky is a big fan of the Trail course describing it as having a lot of challenging, but bonus point earning opportunities. “It wasn’t so tight, so you could show through the lopes really well. The back through and walk out was super tight, so I had to really pay attention when I got there. Everything flowed really well, but that last obstacle was super stressful because it was super elevated.”

IMG_8419Becky and Bud will show on Friday evening in the Senior Trail L3 finals for the chance to win their first AQHA World Championship title. But at the moment, Becky is busy preparing another horse, her three-year-old, Suddenly Best Vested, for the Junior Trail preliminaries that are currently underway. “The cool thing about both of them is that they’re really slow legged and have really big strides, so they’re fun to show. They have a lot in common.”

The Reserve Champion was Reid Thomas with Gettin Hot. Third was Holden Jung with Moonlite Cruiser. Fourth was Colton Lasusa with One Hot Sultry Night. Fifth was Mandy Gately with Touched N Moonlite. Sixth was Ashley Dunbar-Clock with No Nonsense. Seventh was Elizabeth Knabenshue with PF Shy Guy. Eighth was Andrey Ferreir with Imitation Chocolate. Ninth was Becky George with Hello I’m JohnnyCash. Tenth was Anthony Montes with Talk About Lazy.
