With the World Show moving to the summer this year, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the program was modified to 3-year-old maiden horse Open classes–a revision that was announced in the fall of 2020. The program was recently analyzed for the 2022 APHA World Show and the following changes have been made to allow more 3-year-olds to be eligible for the $50,000+ purse.

Continue reading …IEA utilizes a draw-based form of competition, similar to collegiate riding programs, whereby riders are furnished with an unfamiliar horse and tack on the day of competition and will show after a brief warm-up. This “blind-draw or catch-riding” format levels the playing field and challenges riders to adapt quickly to their horse. Riders are judged on their equitation and will compete in Dressage Test and Dressage Seat Equitation (DSE) classes, based on rider-level, for individual and team awards.

The winning youth team was Team #1, which consisted of Olivia Wynn with Way Beyond Special, Scott Campbell with Nautical Iron, Lili Lescun with Hy Definition, and Annabel Steffens with Good Girl Gone Lazy. The second place team was Team #3 with June Drinkall with ItOnlyTakesAMinute, Lola James with Lopin Really Purdy, Natalie Lane with Novia De Gallo, and Samantha Lind with Zizzling Invitation. The third place team was Team #2 with Lili Drinkall with Especially Skandalis, Heidi Wood with Forget Me Nott, Natalie Riegsbecker with Cant Help Being Lazy, and Anna Wilhelm with An Innocent Cowboy.
