March to Virginia and The Virginia Maiden, March 27-30, 2025, kicked off their show with new management and ownership.  The AQHA show, now owned by The Virginia Horse Center, was managed by AB Show Management, and organized by Allie Board and John Boxell.

Judges were Mike Hawkins, Clint Fullerton, Lisa Ligon, and Mike Rapley.

The Virginia Maiden is one of the most sought after futurities in the industry, and perhaps the most anticipated each year on Saturday is the 3 & Over Maiden Western Pleasure!  Winners are below with photos by Gordon Downey:

Unanimous Champion: Ten Kinda Southern with Shannon Curl Holbin for owner and breeder Gumz Farms -$9,300

Reserve: When Ya Know Ya Know with Kelby Hutchinson for Michael McInnis – $6,696

Third: Jesse Jaames with Blake Britton for Libby Trucco – $4,836

Fourth: Pickup Man with Taft Dickerson for Karen Carter – $3,720

Fifth: Made Olive You Look with Kaitlin Hutchinson for Looney Quarter Horses – $3,162

Sixth: Dangerouss Woman with Garrett Streit for SSH Partnership – $2,604

The first day of futurities, however, were kicked off with Becca Britton showed One Hot Casanova for owner Clarissa Edgerton to win the Three Year Old and Over Limited Horse Open Hunter Under Saddle, followed by Farley McLendon winning the Maturity Open Hunter Under Saddle with Jus Be Good, for owner Amanda Smith, and taking the reserve champion title in the Three Year Old and Older Limited Horse Hunter Under Saddle with her horse, OK Will Do. On Friday, the second futurity day, Farley McLendon returned to the winner’s circle for her second futurity win of the show, this time showing Speakeasyy for Amanda Smith in the $30,000 Added Three Year Old & Over Maiden Hunter Under Saddle Futurity, followed by Shannon Quinlin Hill piloting Daytona Five Hundred to win the Three Year Old and Older Maiden Western Working Rail futurity for owner Debbie Kuffer.  Shannon Curl-Holbin also took Beecuz I Said So to the top of the judges’ cards in the Three Year Old & Over Limited Horse Western Pleasure for owner Ruth Rowe.

Wrapping up The Virginia Maiden were the Non Pros! Hear from Amy Gumz, who piloted Ten Kinda Southern, known as Adam, to the win in the $1,000 added March To Virginia’s NSBA Three Year Old Non-Pro Western Pleasure, and from Brenda Looney, who showed The Machine Girl to win the $1,000 added NSBA Maturity Non-Pro Western Pleasure:
