Around the Rings- 2024 Dixie National Quarter Horse Show

The Dixie National Quarter Horse Show, traditionally known as “The Southern Classic,” ran from February 12-18, 2024, in the Kirk Fordice Equine Center at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson, Mississippi.

The show offered a full slate of cattle, speed events, and all-around events, plus opportunities like a Ride the Trail Pattern Clinic with Tim Kimura, in addition to leadline classes, and stick horse classes.

The 2024 Dixie National judges were Allen Mitchels, IN; Jeff Allen, OK; Buddy Fisher, TX; and Murray Griggs, CA.

Every year the Dixie National Quarter Horse Show also celebrates and hosts the Mary Hopkins Memorial Equestrians with Disabilities AQHA Show, an EWD show sponsored by the Mississippi Quarter Horse Youth Association.

The show just marked its 24rd year, on February 6-7, 2024, with 4 AQHA Shows and no entry fees, no stall fees, and no pre-entry required, all due to the MQHYA and many volunteers. Included in that volunteer list were judges Clay Cavender, MS; L G Heier, LA; Michael Ochetto, LA; and Chele McGauly, LA.
