Around Churchill Downs – 2024 Kentucky Derby

The 150th Kentucky Derby on May 4, 2024, became a dream come true for the team of Mystik Dan, who won the race in an epic 3-way nail-biting photo finish – won by a nose in front of a crowd of 156,710.

Even more remarkably, it was the first Derby win for trainer Kenny McPeek and jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. – the team also won their first Kentucky Oaks on Friday with Thorpedo Anna.
