Over the past four years, a number of young exhibitors have earned scholarship funds at the AjPHA Youth World Championship Show. Generous donations from the Paint Youth Trust to the American Paint Horse Foundation have made these scholarship funds available to Youth who show their Paint Horses, and the APHF holds these funds until the exhibitor is ready to use them for higher education within two years of high school graduation.
A new section of the APHF website—apha.com/foundation—has been developed to answer questions about World Show scholarships, give instruction on how to redeem scholarship funds and most importantly, display each exhibitor’s scholarship earnings to date.
One of the requirements for redeeming World Show scholarships is that the APHF must have a form on file for each exhibitor listing their scholarship placings for each World Show. The funds are listed by class, totaled by year and tallied through the 2015 World Show. Each exhibitor’s listing indicates whether or not the APHF has received the required forms. If paperwork still needs to be completed, the website features convenient links to the forms from the last three World Shows, so parents can finish the process.
After the results are made official from the 2016 AjPHA Youth World Championship Show, the 2016 scholarship funds will be added to each exhibitor’s listing and new scholarship recipients will be added to the section. As exhibitors redeem their scholarship funds, their listings will be removed.
To check your status, visit apha.com/foundation/youth-ws-scholarships and click on the “Scholarship Status” links on the right side of the page. Recipients are listed in alphabetical order by last name.
When the curtain closed on the 2015 Youth World Show, 155 Youth walked away with scholarship checks. The new World Show scholarship website will allow students and parents to keep track of their scholarship funds throughout their World Show careers.
