AQHA Region 8 exhibitors are preparing for the 2016 Merial AQHA Region Eight Championships, which is approaching quickly. The show, slated for June 15-19 at the Amarillo National Center in Amarillo, provides American Quarter Horse enthusiasts a chance to test their horse-showing skills.
This regional championships features four days packed with a variety of classes, starting with reining at 7:30 a.m. on June 15 in the Amarillo National Center at the Tri-State Fairgrounds. AQHA judges Sandy Jirkovsky, Laura Gilmer and Karen Graham will judge the event. For a full show itinerary, visit www.mane-events.com/Reg8.
“These shows are the best way for exhibitors to get their feet wet in AQHA championship shows,” said Charlie Hemphill, AQHA director of shows and new events. “The shows also give Level 1 exhibitors the opportunity to qualify for the AQHA Level 1 Championships in 2017.”
Exhibitors at this regional championships have the opportunity to participate in more than showing. Show attendees are invited to attend an exhibitor party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on June 17 at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum. AQHA’s cook team will provide free hors d’oeuvres. Be sure to tour the Hall of Fame and meet all of your fellow exhibitors.
Level 1-eligible exhibitors who place in the top 10 in any amateur/Select/youth regional championships class will earn an invitation on that horse to compete at the 2017 AQHA Level 1 Championships. Visit www.aqha.com/level1championships for more details.
Regions 2, 5 and 6 will also hold 2016 Merial AQHA Regional Championships. Region 1 will not offer the same awards as the other regional championships, however Level 1 exhibitors placing in the top 10 at the Region One Championships will also qualify for the 2017 AQHA Level 1 Championships. Exhibitors from every region are invited to attend a regional championships, but an exhibitor may only compete at one regional championships per year.
