Employees of the American Quarter Horse Association and American Quarter Horse Foundation spent June 10 helping Amarillo Habitat for Humanity build homes in Amarillo.
In addition to volunteering their time, AQHA Executive Vice President Craig Huffhines also presented Amarillo Habitat for Humanity a check for $1,000 to continue support of Amarillo Habitat for Humanity in the local community.
“We were thrilled to be able to assist Amarillo Habitat for Humanity this past weekend,” said Huffhines. “We are thankful to be able to give back to our local community, which is also the home of AQHA’s international headquarters, and look forward to working with Habitat for Humanity in the future.”
About Amarillo Habitat for Humanity
Since founded in 1981, Amarillo Habitat for Humanity has completed more than 100 homes in the local community. Habitat builds three- to five-bedroom homes for low- to median-income families who qualify and complete program requirements. A Habitat home is provided to a family with a 25- to 30-year, no-interest mortgage loan. This allows for a lower monthly payment and brings more income stability to the household. Amarillo Habitat for Humanity is a Christian-based nonprofit dedicated to eliminating substandard housing through its mission: Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
