(Wednesday, May 13th) Attention: 2015 Zone 2 and Utah Paint Horse Club Exhibitors

“We are aware of the events in Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Oregon regarding the Vesicular Stomatitis and EHV-1 viruses. We are not contemplating postponing the show, but rest assured we are taking all the recommended precautions in dealing with both viruses. Please note that the VS quarantine related to the endurance trail event in Utah happened in Kane County, approximately 282 miles southeast of Salt Lake City. However, we will be checking all horse’s health certificates as they arrive at the Equestrian Park.

At this time, horses from Utah, Arizona & New Mexico require a VS statement with their health certificate. For more information on that statement, view import requirements. The Utah State Veterinarian on Monday expected the related quarantine in southern Utah to be lifted that day. We will let everyone know as soon as we have confirmation.

We will require an EHV-1 statement on horses from Oregon which includes the statement, “the animals are free from clinical signs or known exposure to any infectious or communicable disease.” A temperature reading at time of inspection is recommended.

We also are working with South Valley Large Animal Hospital should you require documentation when leaving the show. We are working on a daily schedule when one of the veterinarians will be on the grounds and will publish that information as soon as it is finalized. We do recommend that you check with your state’s veterinarian for requirements for re-entry in to your home state, but will do whatever we can to accommodate those needs.

The Equestrian Park crews regularly spray all the stalls and surrounding areas with Synbiont Ag Wash and will be actively applying pest control during the show as well.

The health and safety of the horses is always our top priority and we will stay abreast of the situation. Should anything change we will most definitely act as the situation warrants.

Thanks to all for your questions and concern! Feel free to contact us for any further information.”
