Do you have an eye for detail? Are you aspiring to someday become a carded horse show judge, or do you simply enjoy testing your own judging skills? Make plans to compete in the 2015 Youth World Show Horse Judging Contest, which takes place June 28 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Entries are due (postmarked) by May 15.

Co-hosted by APHA and the Appaloosa Horse Club, this annual event is one of the nation’s premier Youth horse judging contests and takes place in conjunction with the AjPHA Youth World Championship Show and the ApHC Youth World Show. All youth horse judging enthusiasts who have a taste for color, competition and college scholarships are invited to participate!

The contest features categories for both teams and individuals in two age divisions: 13 & Under and 14–18. All contestants must be members of either AjPHA or the Appaloosa Youth Association—membership fees are $15 and can be paid at the time of entry.

This year, the High-Individual Overall in both the junior and senior divisions takes home a $500 scholarship, a trophy and rosette, courtesy of APHA and ApHC. More than $150,000 in scholarships will be awarded at the AjPHA Youth World Show—learn more on apha.com.

The High-Point Team Overall takes home Gist Silversmith trophy buckles and embroidered jackets, courtesy of APHA and ApHC; the reserve high-point team overall, as well as individual and team category champions and reserve champions—awarded in halter, performance and reasons—receive custom trophies and rosettes.

The contest takes place Sunday, June 28; it’s followed by an awards breakfast on June 29 at 8:30 a.m. where top-placing teams and individuals will be recognized.

Check out the contest rules and entry forms online at ywcs.apha.com. Team entry fees are $125 and individual entry fees are $35. Pre-entry is required, so send in your Youth Horse Judging Contest entries by May 15—mail entry forms to AjPHA, PO Box 961023, Fort Worth, TX 76161.
