APHA World Horsemanship Champions Include Silverberg, Bankford, Weiser, Dietrich, Bull, Karr

This afternoon at the 2015 APHA World Championship Show has been dedicated solely to Horsemanship classes. First up, Jill Silverberg rode Send Roses Please to a win in Novice Amateur Horsemanship. The Reserve Champion was Sarah Bankford and Scotch With Roses. Placing third was Kathleen Hugh with A Spot Of Zip. Fourth place was Brittany Prechtl with Invest In The Zip. Fifth place was Lacey Armstrong with This Sheik Rocks.

In the Classic Amateur Horsemanship it was a tight race for the top spot with Christine Weiser and Nighttime Sensation claiming their third World Champion title of the horse show. The Reserve Champion was Tami Dietrich-Dobbs with Seems Like Heaven. Placing third was Ali Eidson with Gametime Sensation. Fourth place was Kristina Hermanson with Total Assets. Placing fifth was Ashley Wildes with Heza Texas Hobo.

In Masters Amateur Horsemanship Coleen Bull rode Timeless Assets to win the class. Placing Reserve was Sid Karr with Uaintgonnatouchthis. Third place was Kelii Foster with Fleets Serenity. Fourth place was Melissa Haberkorn with Vr Knockyour Socksoff. Fifth place was Evette Hart with Elite Le Zipped Up.

We already had the chance to speak with both Christine and Coleen following their prior wins here at the World Show, so this afternoon we caught up with Sid Karr, the Reserve World Champion in Masters Amateur Horsemanship. Sid’s partner for today’s class was “Hammer Time,” a double-registered gelding by AQHA stallion A Touch Of Sudden.

“This is my second World Show with him, and he keeps getting stronger and better,” Sid says. “I’ve been showing him on the Quarter Horse circuit and the Paint circuit, and I’m having a blast.”

Last year, Sid and Hammer were named the Reserve World Champions in Horsemanship as well. Earlier here at the World Show, the pair placed fourth in Masters Amateur Showmanship. Later on in the show, they will compete in Trail, Western Riding, and Western Pleasure.

Sid was thoroughly pleased with Hammer’s pattern in today’s class, especially the portion where he was able to show off his fancy extended trot. “This was one of those patterns you look forward to riding, because it was drawn out well and laid out very well,” he says. “We went to do our 360, and I was a little hesitant, but he stopped well and the rest of the pattern flowed nicely. We did our extended trot and he softly picked up his lope and he had a really pretty lead change.”

“He’s got a really good cadence to his jog. The thing I really like about this horse is that he will extend his jog, and it’s very comfortable to sit. We got to show that off going down the center of the pen to exit the pattern.”

Before the APHA World Show began, Sid competed at the Appaloosa World Championship Show, also here in Fort Worth. Sid led his 2-year-old gelding, William Grant, to a unanimous win in Non Pro Hunter In Hand. Then, trainer Dale Sullens rode the horse to win the Sale Incentive 2-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, Open Two-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, and Two and Three-year-old Hunter In Hand Geldings/Open division.
