The National Snaffle Bit Association is pleased to welcome Anthony Montes, of Aubrey, Texas, into its prestigious Quarter Million Dollar Club. Anthony reached the milestone of more than $250,000 in lifetime NSBA earnings at the 2025 Arizona Sun Circuit.
From NSBA:
Anthony grew up in Trabuco, California, and was raised around trail horses at the encouragement of his mother and grandmother. He cleaned stalls to have the opportunity to ride Hunter Jumpers when he was young, and was introduced to the horse show world by Nancy Riggs, who took him to 4-H and Open shows around Orange County. He completed his youth career under the guidance of Judy Bonham.
Anthony’s mother also introduced him to Western Pleasure horses when she fell in love with the class. She purchased a horse and encouraged Anthony to ride and prepare it. He has since grown to especially love Western Riding and compares the special cadence of the discipline to dressage.
Anthony partnered with Bruce Vickery and moved to Texas in 2013, where he has prepared and competed with horses in Trail, Western Riding and Western Pleasure. Among the horses that helped take Anthony over the quarter million dollar milestone include Moonlite Madnez, Shes A Lopin Machine, Not Just An Illusion, Hez Raising The Bar, Strawberri Wine, Ode To Zippo, Machine Power, Only After You, VS Lady In Red, Im Hot Youre Nott, Rageous Rodder, Vital Lines Are Red, RL Best Of Goodbar, Whats The Good Word, I Gottem Talkin, KM Get In Line, Heza Flatliner, Come On Over, Cool Moving Lady, When N Where, A Soxy Dream, Zippin A Breeze, Sangria Wine, Socks For Dayz and VS The Fireman.
Socks for Dayz, sired by RL Best Of Sudden, claimed the Super Sires Senior Western Riding Level 1 Championship at the 2025 Arizona Sun Circuit! Ridden by Anthony Montes on behalf of Ingrid Miller Quarter Horses of Plano, TX, this talented pair scored an impressive 149.5 to take home the win!
