Angela Wade and her partner of three years, The Perfect Kryme, had a busy evening competing in two back to back finals. First, they finished eighth in Horsemanship. Then, they came back in Western Riding and were named the World Champions, their first earned as a team. For Angela, this particular win was somewhat of a surprise, because of the discipline it was earned in.
“It’s my hardest class, for me to get my timing, spacing, and rhythm,” she says. “I really stepped up my pace from how I showed it last year. It’s more of an out of control feeling, and I had to learn how to be comfortable with moving forward and trust that my horse would guide to spots. It’s a trust thing, I think. I finally pulled it off at the right time!”
Angela also just came off a great Congress where she rode One Hot Drama Mama to win Amateur Trail and The Perfect Kryme, aka “Clyde,” to place fourth in Horsemanship and Top 10 in Western Riding. Earlier here at the World Show, Angela showed A Soxy Dream to place fourth in Amateur Trail and One Hot Drama Mama to sixth place. “It’s been a great fall. I couldn’t have asked for anything better!”
Heading into tonight’s evening performances, Angela was feeling a bit nervous considering she would be competing in back to back finals.
“I was really nervous with the back to back finals, because I didn’t school Western Riding, today. I really just focused on Horsemanship and saved my Western Riding schooling time for the first ten horses of the class! Western Riding is forward and flowing, so I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to mentally switch gears. But, I’m proud of Clyde, and I’m proud of myself.”
The Reserve Champion was Jane Humes with Dunit On The Range. Third was Jeff Johns with Lopin For A Chex. Fourth was Candice Hall with Cool Coastin Lady. Fifth was Darcy Reeve with Ima Petite Classic.
