Andy Cochran was in the saddle of Suddenly Extreme for owner Ruth Rowe and trainer Chad Evans this afternoon at the 2015 AQHA World Championship Show to win the Junior Western Pleasure L2. This is a special ride and win for Andy because he was an instrumental part of this horse’s past and setting him up for a successful future in all-around events.
“We bought him as a three-year-old and had him for a couple of months before we sold him to Chad Evans and Ruth Rowe,” Andy says. “After they picked him up, he went on to win at the Quarter Horse Congress, the Tom Powers, and NSBA World Show. This year, he was third in Junior Western Riding at the Congress with Chad. Then, I got him here, three or four days ago, and caught rode him.”
This is Andy’s first time winning a gold trophy here at the AQHA World Show. He’s been named Reserve in the past, but today’s win is very exciting, especially because this pair was the unanimous choice of the judges. Suddenly Extreme is a 4-year-old sorrel stallion by Extremely Hot Chips and out of RL Saved By Impulse. Andy praises this horse’s overall eye appeal and ease of movement.
“He’s got a lot of arena presence and he uses his ears really well,” Andy says. “He’s got a lot of lift up front, and he’s a willing horse. Overall, he’s an all-around good horse who just wants to do his job.”
The Reserve Champion in the class was Ty Hornick with Lazy Holla Dayz. Third place was Jamie Dowdy with It’s A Southern Thing. Fourth place was Tate Oakley with Certainly A Vision. Fifth place was Taft Dickerson with She Sure Is Hot.
Sixth place was Kristy Starnes with A Lazy Holiday. Seventh place was Brian Baker with KM Call Me Honey. Eighth place was EH Pait with A Certain Amble. Ninth place was Buddy Fisher with Huntin Forever. Tenth was Travis Duit with Raging To Zip.
