The American Quarter Horse Association will host the fourth annual Latin American Championships April 20-26 in Avaré, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The event is open to all AQHA members in good standing who reside in or are citizens of Latin America. Horses exhibited must be registered American Quarter Horses and special arrangements will be made to allow leased horses to compete.
The event’s theme, Por Tu Honor, Por Tu Patria, Por Tu Campeonato – English translation meaning For Your Honor, Your Country, Your Championship – highlights the importance of why AQHA Hispanic members like to compete.
Latin American champions, reserve champions and top-10 placings will be recognized on the permanent records of the horses exhibited. Exhibitor awards include buckles and gold medallions for champions, silver medallions for reserve champions and bronze medallions for third place. Ribbons will be awarded for first through 10th place.
“The Latin American Championships allow AQHA to recognize our Latin American exhibitors for their showing accomplishments,” said AQHA Chief Show Officer Pete Kyle. “We are excited to see these talented horsemen and -women compete with their American Quarter Horses in Brazil.”
AQHA has 11 Latin American international affiliates: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.
