UPDATE: Master Fencer came in fifth in the Belmont Stakes!
An American Quarter Horse named Kingpins Investment is helping Japanese Thoroughbred Master Fencer prepare for a run in the June 8 Belmont Stakes in New York, the final jewel in the American Triple Crown.
The Thoroughbred, bred and raced by Katsumi Yoshizawa, most recently finished sixth in the Kentucky Derby.
Playing a part in his adjustment to American-style racing was Mary Ellet, a Godolphin Flying Start graduate, who works in the Thoroughbred racing industry, and has helped pony Master Fencer with her rescued American Quarter Horse, whom she calls “Fox.”
