Alyse Roberts Pilots All I Ever Wanted to APHA World Show 3-Year-Old HUS Win

Alyse Roberts was in the irons this afternoon for Gemma Kaye-Hudson in the 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle with All I Ever Wanted. The trio achieved their ultimate goal by being named the World Champions with a near-unanimous finish of four firsts and one second.

This is a very special win for each of the parties involved. Roberts has had many a sleepless night traveling back and forth between the APHA and AQHA World Show, because she has horses and clients competing at both. Hudson bred and raised “Mia,” who is out of her all-time favorite mare, She’s Miss California. Stallion owner, Peggy Knaus, experienced a tragic barn fire just a week before the World Show where eight horses perished, except for her beloved stallion, All Time Fancy. Hudson says “Mia” is the picture perfect representation of her sire.

“She is out of my favorite Thoroughbred mare that I used to show,” Hudson says. “She got stuck coming out, and I pulled her out. She came out exactly how I ordered her, which was bay with four white socks and just enough white on her face. That’s why she got called All I Ever Wanted. I’ve loved her since day one.”

“She’s a good combination of [her sire and dam.] I’ve had loads of [All Time Fancy babies], and I would never have anything else. I think they’re fantastic. Every one I’ve had, they’ve tried their hearts out.”

“After the last one I had, David Buckham, she had big shoes to fill. I told her she had a lot to measure up to because I loved that horse. The lady who owns him asked if this one was its clone. I have a factory at home! Luckily, Alyse liked Mia as much as I did. The two of us were like her fan club.”

Hudson decided not to show her mare in the amateur division due to the demanding World Show schedule. Mia had been shown only one time, at the Pinto World Show, before coming here to Fort Worth. Today, the mare will be competing in three classes.

“We had the Three-Year-Old Breeders class at 8 am in the morning and then the 3-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle a couple of hours later,” she says. “Then, we have the Green Hunter Under Saddle tonight. Then, the 3-Year-Old Challenge is three days later. We thought it was a lot of work for her. I figure next year we might try to drive her. Hopefully, she takes to jumping like her mother.”

“She delivered for us, so I was pretty happy with her. I thought it was great. She did her little trot thing, and she was relaxed and happy in her little rubber snaffle.”
